First the bad news: our digital camera is back at Canon to get fixed. It has been randomly putting lines on some pictures for a while now, and just before Christmas, it decided to not record pictures at all. Luckily, i gave it a little shake and it worked right again, otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten any pictures of new cousin Sam in the hospital. The good part is that it’s apparently a known problem, so it’ll get fixed for free. The bad part is no new pictures until the camera comes back, hopefully soon.
We’ve had an unusal streak of warmish days, upper 30s-40s, so our snow is mostly gone. I took advantage by heading out for a bike ride yesterday, a good day for it. Autumn has entered her regular training schedule for the triathlon season, and did an easy 10k run today around Lake Como and back. It looks like we’re back to freezing and a lovely rain/snow mix for tomorrow - whee!
Ella and Fiona have both been great helpers around the house lately, and have been very sweet. The house is still getting torn apart daily, mostly due to Fiona’s habit of wiping tables clear and randomly throwing things around, but they have been great help in cooking and little projects here and there.
Fiona had a sensitive evening today, and had her first time of really feeling embarrased. We were at the dinner table, and Ella was singing Happy Birthday for fun, as he often does. Fiona stood on her chair, and said “Happy Birthday, mama and daddy!”. Autumn said, “it’s not really our birthday, honey”. At that, Fiona looked a little serious, then just hung her head down in the absolute saddest pose imaginable. We had no idea she would react like that. Absolutely heart-breaking. Then she reached over to me (sitting next to her) and i hugged her, then she went to hug Autumn. It’s the first time she ever reacted like that, and it was so sad to see her feeling bad like that. Later, we were playing with the jingle blanket, she got sad and embarrassed again when she made the big bounce with the blanket after 2 instead of after 4, like Ella had wanted. Simple things, both of them, but just an extra-sensitive day for her, i guess.
