We were at baby swimming class tonight, and Ella got to do her new favorite thing: jumping in the water from the side of the pool. She also likes to climb out, even though we have to give her a little leg up.
Part of jumping in the pool tonight was supposed to be having them get a little bit under the water - the babies go under water about every other class, just 2-3 times. Usually it’s a quick dunk to go under, and that’s it. Tonight, it was part of jumping in the pool.
After jumping in a couple of times like usual, we asked Ella, “ok, do you want to go under water now?”
“no!” and she wrapped her arms around my neck.
Ok, so we put her on the side again, and counted. 1… 2… 3! and she jumped (more like stepped off) into the water, and i caught her and let her go just an inch or so under the water. She loved it, was having a blast.
“again!”
“You were under the water! Do you want to do it again?”
“no!” and she wrapped her arms around my neck.
And so on. She was under 3-4 times, just barely to the top of her head, but insisted that she didn’t want to go under water. After class, “Ella, do you like going under water?”
“yeah!”
