Let us have a moment of silence for all Americans who are now stuck in traffic on their way to a health club to ride a stationary bicycle. - Congressman Earl Blumenauer (Oregon)

first of all, happy day after thanksgiving.

we had a great day yesterday. it was just us (autumn, bill, + ella), brother mike, and date (karen). we ordered an organic free range turkey from otis family farm and wow…it was really good. bill did an amazing job stuffing, basting, etc. and by the end of the day, ella had even learned the word “turkey”.

we started off with wine (hee hee). then a salad of greens, endive, toasted spiced walnuts, and gorgonzola. next, squash soup w/ walnut butter (only i forgot to put out the walnut butter. oops). main course: turkey with cornbread and dried apple stuffing, rosemary garlic mashes potatoes, our signature horseradish carrots, brussels sprouts with chestnuts, cranberry relish, ginger squash puree, sourdough bread, and rolls. i think that’s it. oh, more wine. for dessert, choice of french silk or pumpkin pie. yum. more wine.

today we are alternating between lounging around the house and running errands. we stopped at peapods natural toy store this morning so that ella could pick out something for herself and for cousin laurel for xmas. it was quite fun.

this afternoon we might brave the sprawl (aka mall of america) to meet up with the hodgens family and maybe swing by the apple store (they are having some t-shirt give-away or something…maybe they’ll give us an ipod. hee hee).

We took ella to see the latest Harry Potter movie. It was somewhat risky, the last movie we took her to was about 6 months ago, and we took turns walking her up and down the hallway because she got fussy.

This time, she was great: we were running late, but got perfect seats (last row, next to the door). We got popcorn and a soda and got in about 5 minutes into the film. As soon as we settled in, Ella was sprawled out in Autumn’s lap, fixed on the screen, occassionally reaching over to my lap for more popcorn, same as we were. It was really hilarious.

About an hour in, she got a little fussy, but nursed (through the spider scene), then napped to the end.

Ella was very sleepy this morniing.
I said, “papa’s going to work, bye bye”.
Ella didn’t look up, and just said, “yeah, bye” flopping her hand in my general direction.

Ella has the funniest fake sneeze ever.

She’ll wind up:
aaaahhhh….

and wait…
and wait…

choo.

i can’t possibly capture here how cute and sneaky the ‘choo’ is. It’s hilarious. She’s totally playing to her audience (a couple of suckers, i’m one of ‘em ;-)

One of the best things our gov’ner has done: Minnesota just established a Do Not Call List for telemarketers. Not a minute too soon either, i can’t wait to tell every caller, “this call is going to cost you a cool grand, sucker”. There are some loopholes, they should get closed soon.

The worst offenders have been the mortgage companies. One especially keeps calling, even though we’ve clearly and loudly told them we weren’t biting. bastards! hate those guys.

We signed up. Us and over 625,000 others in the first week.
